Made of light weight weather-resistant plexiglass. This material supports the luminosity of the discs because it directs light better than glass.
The Plexiglas disk contains fluorescent substances. These ensure that the invisible, short-wavelength spectral component (UV light) of the daylight is converted into longwave, visible light, which appears brighter.
